Children's Activities
Saturday and Sunday, 10AM - Noon
BEGINNER - The following events can be done by children 5 or older.
- Japanese Flying Fish
Glue foil paper scales to a construction paper body, add streamers for the fins and tail and watch your fish fly!
- Paper bag carp
Decorate a paper bag with cut-outs, paint, glitter glue, markers and other fun things.
- Chinese Lanterns
Cut out lanterns from construction paper, then hang them around camp.
- Flowers on the Cherry Tree
Help add pink tissue flowers to the Cherry Tree in the Lodge.
MODERATE - The following events require adult supervision for ages 5 and over.
- Fuzzy cranes
The Japanese believed the crane was a sacred symbol of fidelity, good luck, and longevity. Make a white crane out of pipe cleaners, fuzzy yarn and feathers.
- Shoebox Zen Gardens
Create your own garden in a shoebox. Add water, plants and a pagoda.
- Herb hunter's Walk
The Japanese appreciate the beauty of nature. Collect rubbings and drawings of local plant life. FEE for book. You may bring your own (composition notebook size)
- Silk Fans
Paint silk fans and umbrellas with watercolors. All materials provided.
ADVANCED- The following events require 1-1 supervision of each child by a responsible adult.
- Kabuki Masks and Papier Mache
Turn an old milk jug into a fearsome Kabuki mask. Masks will be used in Quest!
- Origami
Make simple origami
- Kite fly
Bring your kite and sunscreen, and join us in the open field for an afternoon kite fly. Weather permitting.
- Children's Boffer Tourney
10AM on Sunday.
- Children's Joust & Quintain
5PM on Friday
